NEW! 10-WEEK FALL SPANISH PROGRAM

Diez semanas. Tres niveles. Una comunidad.

This 10-week program is for those looking to deepen their relationship with Spanish in a queer friendly environment. This is a space to learn, or come home to, our heritage language, sin vergüenza. Program orientation is on September 13, with weekly classes running from September 14 through November 22. Registration closes on Friday, September 4 at 11:59PM ET.

Every week, we’ll host each of the following sessions by level:

  1. Weekly Workshops (2hrs): Our main teaching session where new grammar, vocabulary, and structure are introduced.
  2. Review Labs (1hr): A lighter review session to review homework and reinforce what we covered in our weekly workshops.
  3. Music Labs (1hr): A casual learning environment to build listening skills and vocabulary through queer Latin music.
  4. Speaking Circles (1hr): Live conversation practice with your level, with topics around queer Latine life and community.

Each class will be hosted by level (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). Not sure your level? Check out our level descriptions below!

BEGINNER

For those just starting out with Spanish, or returning after a while. This level is for those who grew up with some Spanish and know a handful of words, or are starting completely from zero. This level is about building a foundation without judgment - no prior knowledge is assumed.

INTERMEDIATE

For those who can hold basic conversations, but want to grow. This level is for folks who can get through basic conversations in Spanish but stumble on grammar and mix up verb tenses. You have roots in the language already, but this level is about strengthening them and building confidence to speak more freely.

ADVANCED

For those who are conversational and ready to deepen connection with their heritage language. For folks who speak comfortably but want to expand their vocabulary and get more precise, with a focus on queer Latine culture. This level is about depth and full self expression in Spanish.

our pricing model

We use a peer-support pricing model. Choosing a higher tier helps us make space for community members who couldn't otherwise afford to join. It also lets us invest in the tools and platforms needed to tend to this program.

Our lowest tier comes out to ~$68/week for 5 hours of live class (or 10 hours if you are between levels). Payment plans are available at checkout.

Use the code for the tier that best fits your circumstances:

  • Nutrir ($680) - FALL160
  • Cultivar ($760) - FALL80
  • Compartir ($840) - no code needed.
Nutrir ($680)

This covers the base costs to run the program from fair pay for teachers, program materials, and the tools that keep things running.

Cultivar ($760)

This helps us build toward the future by investing in better tools, more class offerings, and stronger support for our instructors.

Compartir ($840)

This helps us offer the program at a discount to someone who couldn't otherwise afford it.

FAQs

This program is for queer Latines and those looking to build or deepen their relationship with Spanish. We offer beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes.

Please note: Our program centers the lived experiences of queer Latines, with classes featuring queer Latin music and culture throughout. We also welcome folks from communities beyond Latin America impacted by Spanish or Portuguese colonization, including Cape Verde, Angola, Mozambique, the Philippines, and more.

Over 10 weeks, you'll move through four class types each week:

  • Weekly Workshops where new grammar and vocabulary get introduced.
  • Review Labs to reinforce what you learned and go over homework exercises.
  • Music Labs to build listening skills through queer Latin music.
  • Speaking Circles for live conversation practice on topics relevant to our community.

All classes are live on Zoom, and you'll have a Slack community and shared Google calendar to keep you connected and on track outside of class time.

After you register, you'll get a welcome email and a calendar invite to our program orientation. We’ll send out an invite on September 6 for students to join our Slack, where you’ll find channels for your level and more!

Registration closes on Friday, September 4 at 11:59PM ET.

If you're between two levels, think about where you'll get the most value. Beginner is a good fit if you're still building core vocabulary and sentence structure, while Intermediate is a better fit if you can hold a basic conversation but want to build fluency and confidence. Advanced is the right call if you're already conversational and want to discuss more complex topics. There's no wrong choice - level descriptions are guides, not strict tests. If it turns out you're not in the right spot once classes start, you're welcome to move to attend class at a different level.

Yes. If your registered level doesn't feel like the right fit once classes start, you're welcome to attend class at a different level.

Classes are not recorded, with the exception of program orientation. We want the rest of our sessions to remain present, without the added pressure of a recording. That said, we share course materials weekly in Slack, so if you miss a session you won't miss the material.

No worries if you miss a class! Sessions aren't recorded, but weekly materials are shared in Slack so you can stay caught up, and the community there is a great place to ask questions or practice with a classmate on what you missed.

Yes, payment plans are available at checkout through Afterpay and Klarna.

If you need to cancel before the fall program starts, you're eligible for a refund up until September 6. After September 6, all sales are final. Given the size of our team and the nature of our programming, we're unable to offer refunds or cancellations once the program has begun, including partway through the 10 weeks.

Full details, including how payment plans and rescheduled classes are handled, are on our Refund & Cancellation Policy page.

We built our sliding scale with this in mind. Nutrir ($680) is our base cost. That's the floor we need to stay sustainable, so it's not a tier we can flex on. Cultivar ($760) helps us invest in better platforms, and Compartir ($840) funds a student scholarship. We also offer a scholarship for every two Cultivar signups.

UPDATE: Scholarship applications are now closed. Applicants will hear back by or before Sept 1.

After the fall, we don't have a date set for our next program. If seats for this cohort fill up, we'll share details on upcoming programs. If seats for this cohort don’t fill up, we won't be running the program again until there is more interest in the future.
